The fuel pump, oil level sensor, vent and other components in the diesel fuel tank perform their respective duties and cooperate with each other to ensure the stable operation of the fuel system.
The fuel pump is the "power heart" of the system. It extracts diesel from the bottom of the tank and transports it to the engine injection system through pipelines after pressurization to meet the combustion needs. Its work is precisely controlled by the engine ECU, and it starts and stops or adjusts the speed as needed, which can not only ensure sufficient fuel supply but also reduce energy consumption.
The oil level sensor is like a "monitor" and senses the fuel level in the tank in real time. The common float sensor changes the electrical signal output through the float ball as the oil level rises and falls, and the oil level is displayed on the dashboard after conversion by the ECU. When the oil level is lower than the preset value, the sensor triggers an alarm to prompt refueling; in a multi-tank system, it can also assist in the automatic switching of the fuel supply circuit.
The vent is the "breathing channel" of the system. When the fuel is added or consumed, it allows air to enter and exit the fuel tank to prevent the formation of negative pressure in the tank that prevents the fuel from being pumped out, or positive pressure that causes leakage. At the same time, the vent is connected in series with the activated carbon canister to absorb volatile oil and gas and reduce environmental pollution; its filter and other structural designs can also prevent dust and rain from intruding.
The three work together: when starting, the fuel pump builds pressure, the vent balances the air pressure, and the sensor feedbacks the initial oil volume; during operation, the pump continues to supply oil, the sensor monitors the change in oil volume, and the vent maintains a stable pressure; in the event of an abnormality, an alarm is issued for low oil volume, and abnormal pressure is automatically adjusted, jointly ensuring a stable diesel supply and a safe and reliable system.
