1. Preventing explosion caused by static electricity accumulation

2. Balance the potential difference and avoid electric sparks
In addition to the static electricity generated by the tank itself, static electricity will also accumulate when the transport vehicle rubs against the air and the tires contact the ground when driving. If the tank and the vehicle are not effectively grounded, a potential difference may be formed between the two, and electric sparks will be generated when people touch or metal parts collide. The grounding device makes metal parts such as fuel tanks, vehicles, and pipelines form equipotential bodies, eliminates the potential difference between different parts, and avoids danger caused by discharge due to potential difference.
3. Comply with safety regulations and industry standards
All countries have mandatory grounding requirements for the transportation of flammable and explosive goods. For example, the American API standard and the Chinese GB/T 18564 clearly stipulate that gasoline transfer equipment must be equipped with an effective electrostatic grounding system. Failure to install or poor grounding may cause the equipment to fail safety inspections and face fines, suspension of operations and other penalties. At the same time, the grounding device needs to be checked regularly (such as testing the grounding resistance <10Ω) to ensure that it has good conductivity, which is also a necessary measure for enterprises to implement safety management.
4. Protect equipment and personnel safety
Static electricity not only threatens safety, but may also damage electronic equipment attached to the fuel tank (such as liquid level sensors, electric pump controllers), causing equipment failure or misoperation. The grounding device can protect precision components from high-voltage shocks by releasing static electricity. For operators, the grounding system can prevent static electricity from shocking the human body when it touches the fuel tank, thereby improving operational safety.
